TWO YEARS

Two Years.
It's been two years since I brought home a blind, lymph-node impared, Red-Tick Coonhound (re-named) Ray. And I've loved every minute of it.
I want to say for the record, that the minute my sister Kathy read me the ad in the paper, I knew that I would end up with a blind hound dog. There was just this feeling of inevitability that settled over me. I had no control over my destiny from that moment until the moment that we hoisted Ray's butt up into the car and drove off. I can remember the feeling as if it happened yesterday. No control.
It was Fate with a capital F.
Sometimes Fate knows exactly what it is doing.

  1. Funny how life can change a thousand fold with the making of one little decision. What would life be without Ray in it?? I know you are glad you dont have to wonder. Thank you for sharing your Ray experience out here with me and others. I love Ray and have never met any of you. (I love his kitties too!!) He's the coolest hound dog I know. Now, when are you going to get the poor deprived little dog a minivan of his own, hmmmm??? ; )

  2. Roxie was a sudden happening also. I was driving by Petsmart and they were having a rescue adoption. I stopped and saw these cute puppies and just knew it was fate. Of course I called the hubby who said "whatever you and Chris decide". Chris, Our son, Asked if they were cute and I said YES. "of course Mom!!" The Rest is history:) That happened July 12, 2009, the day before the Hubby's Bday:) The best gift I ever gave him.

  3. Anne: Thanks for following Ray and the cats. I think it's so interesting to have "friends" that I've never met and wouldn't know if I passed on the street. (the minivan is a going to have to remain Ray's dream car for awhile because the Baja is paid for. Poor abused dog!)

Brenda: Thanks for the Roxie story. I remember meeting Roxie shortly after we brought Ray home, when she was no bigger than a hot dog!

Wow! Time sure does fly! It's hard to believe that you adopted Ray 2 years ago and that I've been following his blog since then. Thank you for sharing you and your husband's adventures with Ray and the cats! They are so fun to read!

  5. Wow! You must be one of Ray's original hometown fans. Thanks for sticking with us for TWO YEARS. I still can't believe we've had a dog for that long. And I can't believe he's still trying to find the cats...

  6. When I read this at work, it brought a tear to my eye. One only mind you. We had such a good time that trip and Ray was just the icing on the cake. My sister lucked out.

  7. I got a fortune cookie the other day that read "Depart not from the path which fate has you assigned."
    Like I said - INEVITABLE.
